welcome to the poor house 2

"Arbeit macht frei"... work sets you free.

i was having a long conversation with an old pawn shop owner/drop out/hippie/"communist"/painter, friend of mine and he had a valid point. he painted on the door to his upstairs studio/living area, "freedom makes us work", in german. im not a communist even in the sense that my friend thinks of communism. im not a humanitarian of any sort. i dont believe in equality... actually i dont believe in anything. if i cant know it to be true then it must not be. i deal in logic and reason.

it seems logical enough to me that the epiphany that my friend had could well be true no matter what my or anyone else's personal views may be. think about it. if you were given freedom what would you do? you would no longer be a servant to whatever job you may hold during the week to pay your bills. you wouldnt have to be bound to credit cards, car payments, electricity, cell phones, or even a house and land. you would be bound to something even more challenging... yourself. imagine truly providing for yourself. most people couldnt do it. 3/4 of the earths population would be gone in no time. after the raiding, looting, pillaging, and plague caused by all of the rotting corpses whoever remained would be hard as nails, and well adapted.

i guess in the long run people should really think about which kind of freedom they would choose.

there is the "freedom" that is pumped to the masses every time you turn on the t.v. and have to hear about "9/11", and "terrorism". this is the modern world that you see every day at face value. its a slowly decaying "freedom" rotten in the center and slowly undermining the masses until finally they fall through the surface and into the abyss. these are the people that will be spreading the wind of decay and pestilence to whoever else might have survived the fall.

then there are the people that have their own ideas. new ideas. they think of alternatives to the lies that are spoon fed to us. fuel shortages, poverty that leads to starvation, homelessness, and death are their main concerns. basic human needs. these are real problems. if you are truly free these are the problems that will make you strive to work. in tern you become bound to yourself, and those whom you may be close to. its a different kind of slavery because without this drive to work, freedom will destroy you too. ambition to serve ones self is a lost virtue in this day and age.

nothing is ever equal, and nobody is ever truly free. we will always serve something, and in doing this we shall receive.
